Question 2

Prabhu Deva danced and walked 10 m south from his house. Then he turned left and jogged 25 m and turned left and ran 40 m. He took rest there for ten minutes. Solution :

Note : Actually, this is a simple question where there will be NO calculations involved, but a simple direction assessment is good enough. In some cases, you might start working out the distances which could eat up your time. Hence, it is important that you read the question well, understand the scope of the question and optimize your solving effort accordingly.
It can be seen that the dance college is in North East direction of Prabhu Deva’s house.

Question 3

Samuel Johnson and Ajith were standing 40 metres away. Samuel Johnson walked 5 metres towards east and Ajith walked 5 metres towards west. Samuel Johnson turned his left and walked 20 metres and Ajith turned right and walked 20 metres. Now Samuel Johnson turned to his left and walked further 5 metres. Ajith turned to his left and walked 10 metres. What is the distance between Samuel Johnson and Ajith?

a) 25 m b) 40 m c) 50 m d) none of these.

Answer : a) 25 m

Solution :

The entire travel paths of Samuel and Ajith are drawn as a diagram where the travel path of Samuel is ABCD and that of Ajith is A1B1C1D1.

Final distance between DD1 = initial distance - C1D1 - CD = AA1 - C1D1 - CD = 40 - 10 - 5 = 25
